CARING FOR YOUR HOME
HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING
Adjustments
You may notice some variation in temperature from room to room. You may want to balance the system using the adjustable floor vents or the butterfly valves that may be located on the supply ducts in your basement. For maximum efficiency, avoid blocking registers or returns with furniture, rugs or draperies. Please note that a room above the garage will o ften be a few degrees warmer or cooler than the rest of the house because of the unfinished space below it. You may want to close 1st floor and open 2nd floor registers in winter and close 2nd floor and open 1st floor registers in summer to adjust for this fact.
Filters
During the first few months in your home, check your system's filter monthly and replace it when it becomes difficult to see through it. The filter size is printed on each filter; replacement filters are available at most hardware stores.
Service
Should you require professional assistance in balancing or servicing your home's heating and cooling system, you may wish to contact the subcontractor who installed the system. The telephone number is included on your subcontractors' list.
