Loewen Group, Inc., named in Securities Class Action filed on behalf of Loewen Stock Purchasers by Donovan Searles, LLC

Philadelphia, May 3, 1999 - A class action lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on behalf of purchasers of Loewen Group, Inc. (NYSE - LWN) common stock from November 3, 1996 through January 14, 1999, inclusive (the Class Period).

The Complaint alleges that, during the Class Period, Loewen and certain of its officers and directors (collectively, the Defendants) violated Sections 10(b) and 20(a) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, by among other things, issuing materially false and misleading statements to the investing public regarding Loewen’s financial results for 1996 through 1998.
