Historic Note Settled in 1682 by Robert Taylor,
incorporated as a township June 21, 1686, became a 1st class township in 1924.
Original boundaries included Morton and Swarthmore boroughs, and parts of Ridley
Township and Darby. Thomas Pearson, maternal grandfather of the great painter,
discovered a large spring of water in the 1st field he cleared for cultivation,
